I've noticed that over the course of life we often spend a lot of time focusing on our weaknesses that we forget a lot of the times about our strengths. We don't have a problem with expressing how much strength we have when we're going through a battle but, still we seem to magnify our weaknesses and give no thoughts to our strengths. Why do we magnify our flaws and weaknesses more than we glorify our victories and strength? Why is it so easy to focus on the negative more than the positive?
Today I wanted to share some of my greatest strengths with you all in hopes that you too could find out what your greatest strengths are and to spend time magnifying those attributes about yourself. One of my greatest strengths I believe is my relatable personality, now that's not to say I understand every aspect but I believe being able to relate to others come from humbling life experiences shall I say. I'm thankful for that strength because it has allowed me to connect with some amazing people over the spand of my life. I've met some of my now best friends just from conversations off of relatable experiences that not many other people may have experienced or have gone through.
Another strength of mine is my ability to be patient. Having the ability to be patient with people is not always easy. Your patience is always tested in life especially when you're dealing with loved ones and close friends. We know that not everyone is perfect, but it can be even harder to be patient when you're also trying to be patient with God's timing for your life too. I'm proud of my ability to stay patient in both cases. This isn't to say that some days I may fall or want to rush things in life but it's simply to say that find myself to be patient in what seems to be the most challenging to difficult times. I'm proud of myself for that. Experiencing adulthood first hand will test your patience enough but so far I've been cool.
I love that I'm dependable. What a great strength to have. This is often too sometimes a blessing and a curse. Being dependable you can easily find yourself becoming a "yes man" to everyone around you and burning yourself out. The blessing in this though is that you see how just by being there is a blessing to others within itself. It may not be something big which it doesn't always have to be but it just shows people that they can count on you. What a great feeling to give someone; there are so many people who don't even have anyone they can depend on or trust. Just because you're dependable though doesn't mean you have to say yes to everyone. It doesn't mean that you forget about you and stretch yourself thin. It means that you find the balance and you be there how you can.
I honestly could go on and on about the strengths that I have noticed that I have but I'll leave you with those three. I shared those not to brag about myself but to magnify the good and the strength that is within me. There's more to life than flaws and weaknesses. What are some of your strengths and how have they helped you throughout your life?
My prayer today is that we realize what our strengths are and we focus on those instead of focusing on our weaknesses. I pray that we don't become blind to the areas that we can grow in but I pray that we be more gentle and kind with ourselves. I pray that we be more conscious to not let society tear us down.
With love,
-Yours Truly, Eb
