Same God, New Experiences.

ree

Happy Saturday! Time really flies when you’re having fun. October really has been a beautiful month for me. I experienced so many celebratory things and was able to allow myself to renew my faith and hope for the things to come.

In that, I found God revealing something to me. Often times God will highlight people to me and place them on my heart. Most times it’s mainly to pray for them or encourage them. In the encounters that I experienced this month with close friends and loved ones I noticed a similar commonality between them. It was a faith factor that also highlighted to me how most of us typically view God. I was reminded of how God is in fact still moving, healing, restoring, freeing, delivering, saving, renewing, and all the above. I also was reminded of how we have gotten so used to putting God in a box. The box that we’ve put Him in is the box of who we knew God to be the last time we experienced Him move in a miraculous way.

I share this revelation not to be critical but to share what I believe God wants us to grasp hold of. Most of us grew up with an idea of who God is based on what we were exposed to about God. Some of us didn’t grow up with any knowledge of God at all but had some introduction to who God is. I realized across generations the knowledge of God’s character has a fluctuating range. We often quote the scripture of how God is the same yesterday, today, and forever Hebrews 13:8 however, I would like to pose a question. Are you only holding on to the God that you experienced in your yesterday or are you allowing yourself to experience the God that you will experience today, tomorrow, and forever? While there’s nothing wrong with holding on to those “this was nobody but God” moments, as those are the moments that reminds us of His goodness. God is also a God who is always doing a new thing.

That means the same God who made a way out of no way 5,10, or 15 years ago is the same God that will make a way now. The thing we have to let go of is how He’s going to do it. God often handles situations differently each time, yet the consistency is that He always handles whatever it is. We have to choose in faith to grab hold of the new thing that God is doing. Isaiah 43:19

Isaiah 43:19 is one of my favorite scriptures because it reminds me that God does new things. His word even ask us in the scripture if we see the new thing that has begun. Often times we see it but we don’t allow ourselves to experience the new thing because we’re married to the old. It takes faith to unlearn, move, step out, and all together do something different when we’ve been doing something a certain way for so long. However we have to remember that God’s glory does move. Where His glory rest upon in one season it can move in another. It’s up to us to follow His glory. It’s up to us to be in season with God and what He’s doing now.

I want to encourage you today, that if you’re believing God for something believe Him starting with open faith. Believe Him without a safety net or a box. Believe Him with the understanding that He in fact is doing a new thing and often does do new things. Even though God is the same God He was in 1950, 1990, 2010, etc etc, He’s the same God in 2025 too. We don’t and won’t ever understand the depths of God, there’s still so much for us to not only experience but also learn about Him. It’s of course easier said than done, but faith is the choice to believe God even when it seems irrational. God wants us to experience Him in a new way!

My prayer today is that we will embrace God for who He is, His character, His love, AND allow ourselves to experience Him in a new way! He’s prepared to blow your mind in the best way.

With love,

-Yours Truly, Eb
