Renew Your Mind

How often do we get stuck in a trance of life? Some of us are stuck in a trance from our trauma or from experiences that we have lived through. Our minds in some way shape or form have been cultivated and reformed based off of our life experiences. We think, act, and perform based off of how we were raised and what we have learned or experienced.

I think it’s safe to say that we all have experienced some level of trauma and due to those experiences our mind tends to get stuck when a part of us are triggered by someone else’s actions or words. I have to be honest and say that I am one of those people who often times get stuck in my own head based off of my own thoughts and fears. Of course we want to not be in our heads all the time but we often don’t know how. There have been times where I conjured up thoughts simply based off of how someone has me feel which triggered an emotion attached to my trauma.

Detaching yourself from your trauma is hard especially if you experienced it at such a young age but the great thing is that it can be done! The Bible says first and foremost to cast all of our worries and cares unto the Lord because He cares about us! 1Peter 5:7. If we really want to combat our thoughts we have to be willing to lay ALL of our issues, every single last one at the feet of God. It’s not easy because our thoughts have nursed us for so long that we become comfortable in those thoughts which often are negative; but we all know that the nursing season has an end.

God has given us the authority to control and change the way we think and how we react to our emotions. We have the option to choose Joy! I’m currently making a conscious decision to choose Joy even when it’s hard. The word of God says that we should not copy the customs of the world but to renew the way that we think! Romans 12:2. His word also says that we ought to think on things that are true, pure, honorable, and lovely. We are to think on things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Philippians 4:8

My prayer today is that we will renew our minds everyday. That we will take control and authority over our thoughts. I pray that we will be urged to think on the things that are pure and lovely. I pray today that we will stop allowing our trauma to nurse our thoughts and that we choose JOY!

With love,

-Yours Truly, Eb
