The Power In REST

We're in the first week of a new year and by now the holiday and new year excitement is dying down and we are all getting back to the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. I've also noticed that a lot of goals have been made this year in particular. There's a lot of people who are focusing their minds to make changes and do something new this year in retrospect to previous years. All the while we sometimes can make the mistake of looking at everything from a lens that is only in plan mode and not quite reality mode yet. Today I want to encourage the many of us who have a lot on our plate and when I say "us" I'm definitely including myself.

As we progress into the year and we begin to transition from plan to reality we need to make sure that we are our best self while doing so. In order to be great we have to feel great mentally and physically as well. There are times where we stretch ourselves thin to the point where we burn ourselves out before we get well enough into our goals. We have to make sure that we have a balance in our everyday lives so that we don't end up losing our minds. It's good to be booked and busy...it's honestly one of my favorite things to be. I find that I'm my best self and accomplish a lot when I'm focused and busy. It was in my busiest season where I learned how to take care of my mental and physical health. I learned that it's okay to say no and to truly just rest.

So to my entrepreneurs, full time students, workers and those who are doing multiple things at once don't forget to rest and take care of yourself. Take self care days, sleep in, do things that make you happy. Fit YOU into your schedule. Take care of your physical body as well. Eat better, work out, and get more sleep because your body will thank you for it in the long run. Don't feel like when you decided to rest that you are slacking or being lazy. You have to remember that you can't do your best unless you're at your best. What is something that you can think of right now that could give you some rest? Once you thought of that thing make an appoint to put it into action for this upcoming week.

My prayer today is that we use wisdom when it comes to how much we take on. I pray that we will take care of our mental and physical state without feeling guilty. I pray that we will make time for ourselves and that we will find a healthy balance to be our best self while still accomplishing all of our goals.

With love,

-Yours Truly, Eb
